The expansion and rehabilitation of the dolomite beach in Manila Bay requires temporary closure according to the Department of Environment and Natural Resources.
An official of the Department of the interior and Local Government, Jonathan Malaya said that there is a possibility that after Undas (All Saints’ Day), the DENR will remain the dolomite beach closed until they completed the expansion as they actually expanding the beach further.
The Manila Bay dolomite beach will be closed from October 29 to November 3 in observance of All Souls’ Day and All Saints’ Day.
Manila Mayor Francisco “Isko Moreno” Domagoso wanted to regulate the number of people visiting the dolomite beach when he called the Inter-Agency Task Force for the management of Emerging Infectious Disease to file charges against DENR for failing to enforce discipline in the area.
DILG spokesman Jonatan Malaya also said that DENR secretary Roy Cimatu is considering allowing only 3,000 people every 15 minutes in the dolomite Beach to prevent overcrowding. The DENR also prohibited the entry of minors in the area.
