Curry and Durant top the NBA All-Star Game fan vote.

By: Kristine Doringo NEW YORK – Stephen Curry of the Golden State Warriors and Kevin Durant of the Brooklyn Nets won the first round of fan voting for the NBA All-Star Game, which the league announced on Thursday. Curry, a two-time NBA Most Valuable Player and three-time NBA champion, set the overall pace by leading the Western Conference guards with 2,584,623 votes after breaking the NBA lifetime record for 3-point baskets with his 2,974th last month. With 2,360,435 votes, NBA scoring leader Durant, the 2014 NBA MVP, and two-time NBA champion with the Warriors, dominated the Eastern Conference frontcourt. The 71st NBA All-Star Game will be held in Cleveland on February 20. Fans will vote 50%, players 25%, and a media panel 25% in a weighted voting process to determine All-Star starters. The players who received the most votes in each conference will serve as team leaders. Regardless of conference, they will choose rosters from available players. With 2,018,725 votes, LeBron James of the Los Angeles Lakers, a four-time MVP and four-time league champion, lead the Western Conference frontcourt. DeMar DeRozan of Chicago received 1,487,598 votes to lead the Eastern Conference backcourt. DeRozan drained game-winning 3-pointers at the final buzzer on back-to-back nights last week, an unparalleled NBA feat. Durant is trailed in the East frontcourt vote by Greek star Giannis Antetokounmpo of the reigning champion Milwaukee Bucks, who is third in total voting with 2,145,835. Joel Embiid, a Cameroonian big man from Philadelphia, finished third among East forwards with 1,236,060 votes, nearly doubling the sum of fourth-placed Jayson Tatum of Boston, who received 643,970 votes. With 892,065 votes, Brooklyn's James Harden came in second behind DeRozan, but Atlanta's Trae Young came in third with 862,878 votes. Young is the NBA's leading scorer with 28.4 points per game, followed by Antetokounmpo on 27.9, DeRozan on 26.9, and Curry on 26.8. With 787,690 votes, Slovenia's Luka Doncic of Dallas took second place in the West backcourt behind Curry. Ja Morant of Memphis came in second with 669,033. Nikola Jokic of Serbia (1,649,809) and Paul George of the Los Angeles Clippers (1,072,591) led the West frontcourt spots behind James. Andrew Wiggins of the Golden State Warriors and Draymond Green of the Los Angeles Lakers were right behind them with 933,355 and 691,423, respectively.
