Miss Universe 2015 Pia Wurtzbach reported that she contracted the coronavirus while visiting her family in the United Kingdom, but that she is now healthy. According to the beauty queen's Instagram page today, Jan. 7, she exhibited symptoms of COVID-19 despite living a healthy lifestyle and obtaining her primary and booster vaccine doses. "I caught COVID-19 in the United Kingdom. Despite the fact that I've already been completely vaccinated and received my booster injection. I also completed the flu and pneumonia shots. "I eat well and exercise, yet I still have it," she explained. Wurtzbach went on to say that she had a sore throat, fever, bodily discomfort, cough, and a loss of taste and smell, among other symptoms. "This isn't like a common cold or flu that goes away in a few days. She stated, "I've never been unwell for this long, more than a week." Wurtzbach stated that she is nearing the end of her quarantine alongside her sister Sarah, who was also infected with the illness. COVID-19 tests have now come back negative for both of them. "The worst is over." I'm getting better. My parents' safety is something I am really grateful for. She said, "Di sila nahawa sakin." Wurtzbach went on to warn the public not to be complacent when it comes to COVID-19 and to treat the epidemic seriously. "Please take this seriously because anyone may acquire it, regardless of how healthy they are; being completely vaccinated does not prevent you from getting the virus, but it does help you overcome it; and please follow health and safety measures," she advised the public. Those who defy the rules and go out after testing positive for the coronavirus were also chastised by the beauty queen. "They feel like they won't get caught or that no one is watching them," she told fans. "I've personally seen other people do this. Ang dami nang nagkasakit (Many have gotten sick). I don't want to sound preachy, but let's not be selfish and go breaking protocols, hoarding supplies, refusing to get tested [and] vaccinated." Wurtzbach spent Christmas in the United Kingdom with her family. She decided against staying in a hotel since she didn't want to "waste" time with her family. Last New Year's Eve, she and her partner, entrepreneur Jeremy Jauncey, celebrated their second anniversary separately. Physical distance, however, will not prevent them from being together in some way, according to Jauncey.
