After nearly six years of on-again, off-again dating, Gigi and Zayn have called it quits. They last rekindled their romance in late 2019. In September 2020, they welcome their daughter Khai. The announcement comes just hours after TMZ reported that Gigi's mother, Yolanda, claimed Zayn "struck" her.
A Hadid family friend told People that Gigi and Zayn “are not together right now. They are both good parents though. They co-parent. Yolanda is of course very protective of Gigi. She wants the best for her daughter and grandchild.”
According to a source, Gigi and Zayn's breakup occurred before the news of Yolanda and Zayn's alleged feud broke today. "Gigi and Zayn split up before the Yolanda incident," a source said. "They have been co-parenting, but not together. They attempted to make things work for their daughter, but it was not working."
Following Zayn's statement and the report of him striking Yolanda this afternoon, Gigi's rep made a brief statement on her behalf. "Gigi is solely concerned with what is best for Khai," the rep stated. She requests privacy during this time." On social media, neither Zayn nor Gigi have commented on their breakup.
Zayn responded to the strike allegations in two ways. "I adamantly deny striking Yolanda Hadid, and for the sake of my daughter, I decline to give any further details, and I hope that Yolanda will reconsider her false allegations and move towards healing these family issues in private," he told TMZ after the outlet published their story.
